The beginnings of Roseleigh Media
It all begins with an idea.
I have always loved hearing people’s stories - what is the saying? Everyone has a book inside them. My main aim for years was to get those chapters out of people. I always knew I wanted to be a Journalist, but circumstances never really allowed it until at the age of 25 I had a moment of bravery, gave up my job in Let Property Insurance sales and went to do a Masters in Multimedia Broadcast Journalism. I fell in love with it immediately, I loved the creativeness of radio packages, the joy of getting an angle right when filming a tv piece and the effortlessness of the written word. Social media was only just becoming a thing then, I was of the MySpace generation - when I first joined Twitter, Stephen Fry was the only real account on there. I learned how to use it, how to interact and from then I was hooked. Now, I take pride in my ability to get the best brand content out on varying social media platforms from Facebook to TikTok.
Over the last 12 years I have worked hard to be up on storytelling techniques either on tv, radio or social media, learning how to maintain contacts not only with people working in newsrooms and press offices but case studies too. I have always known somebody who is a specialist in one thing or another. For me it’s about networking and keeping hold of those bonds formed.
The first time I thought about setting up a PR company was in 2014. I had finished my Masters and had 2 years in a newsroom under my belt - but I knew there was a lot to learn. I did some freelance bits and pieces for friends here and there, but eventually I knew I needed more newsroom experience. I worked in commercial radio, building contacts and creating short and long form radio. I worked in press offices and spent a lot of time at the BBC. I have honed my skills in the last decade and now felt like the right time to put those skills to use.
I want to work with different organisations on different projects so that I can make a difference. Some of the best work I’ve done has been with charitable and small organisations and seeing how they flourish is a feeling I want to continue. For me it’s about using PR to help those organisations grow and reach their full potential - and the great thing is we can choose whether we want to work together and how we do that.
Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
